Book Review – Blitz

The COVID-19 shutdown. A murderous arrest by a heartless cop resulting in mass riots, looting and chaos in major cities. Statues of Founding Fathers and historical figures being vandalized and toppled.

National polls that consistently show President Donald J. Trump losing to a former vice-president and senator with dementia and arguably the fewest accomplishments over a 47-year political career of any Democrat presidential candidate ever.

There are less than five months before Election Day 2020, so who can blame Trump supporters if they need a booster shot of optimism and positivity in one of the most chaotic and uncertain years in recent memory?

Conservative commentator and best selling author David Horowitz shares a snappy pep talk and more in “Blitz: Trump Will Smash the Left and Win.”

The 245-page book provides an impressive overview over 14 chapters on why the Left has tried to destroy the Trump presidency the past three years, how this unconventional president has stayed one step ahead of the mob the whole time, and why the “dude with ‘tude” is not only going to win re-election, he’s going to do it by beating these miscreants at their own game.

A central question throughout Blitz is why do the Democrats and their media acolytes hate Trump so much? Blitz provides the reasons why, and two of the main ones are mentioned in Chapter 1: The Trump Threat.

“A Trump presidency would dismantle the ‘fundamental transformation’ of America they thought they had put in motion during the eight years of the Obama administration,” Horowitz writes.

If failing to accept the results of the 2016 election isn’t bad enough, Horowitz cites another reason why Trump Derangement Syndrome (TDS) is far more widespread than COVID-19 could ever be.

“Trump was not only not one of them, he was their worst nightmare – disrespectful toward everything they stood for – politically incorrect,” he says.

Progressives cannot stand the fact that the President of the United States could care less what they think. Even worse (for them), he hits back twice as hard as they punch.

How organized is the “Resistance to” Trump? In Chapter 2 (Divide, Sabotage, Resist), the former liberal tuned conservative commentator/author details how a four-day event sponsored by George Soros’s Democracy Alliance was held just five days after the 2016 election.

That fevered gathering was held to develop specific strategies on how to sabotage the new administration’s first 100 days in office.

According to Horowitz the alliance at D.C.’s Mandarin Oriental Hotel consisted of 110 billionaires who each pledged $200,000 annually to left-wing causes like Antifa, Black Lives Matter and the hopelessly corrupt Southern Poverty Law Center.

In today’s headlines you see the results of those donations: Black Lives Matter furiously stirring the racial pot, paid looters and sponsored anarchy in Minneapolis and elsewhere, and CHOP squatting in Seattle with the blessings of an impotent Washington state governor and head-in-the-clouds Seattle mayor.

Throughout Blitz Horowitz recalls how the Left went nuclear against Trump from Day One with notorious non-stop attacks, ranging from the sham Russian Collusion delusion and sabotaging efforts to secure the border, to openly calling for harassment and bullying of Trump supporters, and fast tracking a sham impeachment on laughable charges.

In chapter after chapter, Horowitz succinctly lays out how the Left’s fury at losing the election and how their irrational hatred of Trump has blinded them to reason and the desire to compromise. The author also details how almost everything the president’s detractors have leveled at him has come full circle like a conservative boomerang.

Blitz also reveals how the Left illegally spied on the President and his staff, doxed his supporters, leaked damaging stories and classified information, met with leaders of foreign countries in efforts to undercut him, criticized the assassination of foreign terrorists who had killed American servicemen and women, and backdated FBI documents and whistleblower laws – all in an attempt to remove “Orange Man Bad” from office.

Horowitz calls the devastating effects of the Left’s relentless attacks on the country “incalculable.” However, he leaves readers on a positive note: “Fortunately, in 2016 Americans elected a leader who has been able to withstand these seditious attacks and steer the nation forward, making it more prosperous and stronger than ever before.”

The author caps his impressive work with an Afterword outlining The Nine Biggest Dangers to America from the Anti-Trump left and The Top Ten Lies Democrats Have Told.

Culture Jihad – Book Review

Paul Revere wasn’t horsing around when he alerted the Massachusetts countryside that the British were coming.

FDR’s administration received more than one warning about an impending attack from Japan prior to Dec 7, 1941 but sadly, their failure to listen blew up Pearl Harbor.

Soviet premier Nikita Khrushchev warned the U.S. in 1959 the Soviet Union wouldn’t bother invading America, but instead would “destroy you from within.”

In Culture Jihad journalist, broadcaster and bestselling author Todd Starnes warns that America is again under assault – this time from a bevy of radical groups intent on transforming America into a social utopia for them, but a cultural dystopia for everyone else.

Throughout his book Starnes methodically reinforces his thesis that the political left is hellbent on chipping away at America’s historical traditions and Judeo-Christian values.  Packed with countless anecdotes and hair-raising examples, he attributes his stories with extensive footnotes, many of them from leftist publications known for systematically cloaking “democracy in darkness.”

From vivid descriptions of Trump Derangement Syndrome and universities with free speech phobias, to socialist spouting politicians and mask-wearing Antifa thugs, Starnes emphasizes that God-fearing, America loving patriots are all that stand between efforts to fundamentally transform America into a North American Venezuela.

How loopy is the left when it comes to identity politics?

In Chapter 7’s Lessons From A Saltine-American, Starnes shares with his trademark Southern humor how Kellogg’s reaffirmed its commitment to diversity and inclusion by redoing a Corn Pops cereal box cover because a fantasy author on Twitter thought the depiction of a brown kernel was racist.

Talk about crying over spilled milk!

In another chapter citing multiple examples of how the PC-crowd goes Ebeneezer Scrooge at Christmas every year (Chapter 10: Trump Jingles the Christmas Haters’ Bells), Starnes reports how a writer for The Late Show with Stephen Colbert wrote a children’s book about Santa Claus being black and gay so kids as young as four years of age will know that “Santa Claus can come in all shapes and colors and sizes” – and apparently has a white husband stashed away baking cookies at the North Pole.

Run, run Rudolph, Santa’s not too far…behind.

Whether Starnes is writing about safe spaces at Commie U, transgender story hour at public libraries, or the prohibition of Bible clubs and prayers in public schools, he balances the left’s balderdash with wry commentary using his Southern genteel charm and good grace.

That grace has been on full display since Oct 2 when Fox News announced it was severing ties with Starnes after a 15-year relationship.

Earlier that day Todd had interviewed Rev. Robert Jeffress, a Texas-based pastor and President Trump supporter, on his Fox radio show.  During the interview, Jeffress commented that Democrats worship Moloch, the pagan god often associated with Planned Parenthood – er, I mean, child sacrifice.

The irony is that Fox’s swift action over the incident illustrates the point Starnes has made in Cultural Jihad – free speech is under assault, schools and media outlets are often politically correct indoctrination centers, and its okay to burn the American flag and persecute religious folk but taxpaying citizens can be bullied for disagreeing about climate change and imprisoned for burning the LQGBT’s cartoon colored flag.

To be clear, Culture Jihad is more than tales of indignation and injustice sprinkled with sardonic humor.  Starnes also includes inspirational stories of citizens who stood up for American values, such as the young men at a Mississippi high school who served as pall bearers at a veteran’s funeral during Christmas break because his body lay unclaimed for weeks and “it was the right thing to do.”

Or the lone football player at Millikin University in Decatur, Illinois who went anti-Kaepernick to stand alone on the sideline during the playing of the Star Spangled Banner while his coaches and teammates engaged in a ‘moment of reflection’ in their “university-approved safe space” locker room.

In Culture Jihad Todd Starnes reminds readers that while our faith and common decency prohibit the use of the same bullying and imitation tactics as the political left, we must not stand mute while our faith and traditions are under assault.

We have to stand tall, speak out and bond together with like-minded patriots because “this Great American Experiment is worth saving.”

The Theft of America’s Soul – Book Review

It doesn’t take a rocket scientist, a social scientist or the pseudo-scientists giving us just 12 years to change our carbon footprint to know that America is a much different country than it was 60 years ago.

The proliferation of abortion on-demand, opioid and drug addiction, suicide, alcoholism, divorce, mass shootings, gang violence, sexual slavery, rape, and child endangerment cases are just symptoms of a larger problem.

There is also society’s indifference of transgender and gay lifestyles, and alarming increases in pedophilia, bestiality, and Internet porn.

Are the social ills above symptoms of an even greater problem? Has America lost its soul?

Best selling author and patriarch of Duck Dynasty Phil Robertson thinks so, but like an Old Testament prophet warning the Israelites to repent and seek God’s forgiveness, in The Theft of America’s Soul (Thomas Nelson Publishing, 224 pages), Robertson doesn’t sugarcoat his prescription for what ails America and how to fix it.

Robertson is as direct as a GPS coordinate and unapologetic about his faith as the apostle Paul.  And in today’s walk-on-eggshells, hope not to offend, safe spaces environment, its like a breath of fresh air.

Robertson’s self-help book for America is divided into 10 primary chapters and a summary 11th chapter with his typically pointed observations.

The 10 primary chapters list a commonly held cultural lie and an absolute truth. For example:

Lie: God is Dead/Truth: God is not dead and never will be;

Lie: Truth is Relative/Truth: There is absolute truth and it comes from God;

Lie: Sex is for self-gratification/Truth: God created sexuality for His purposes and our good.

Robertson’s book is sprinkled with interesting anecdotes (including his personal experiences before finding God), fascinating observations and the politically incorrect bluntness that got him temporarily suspended from the A&E Network a few years back.

Brick by brick, the Duck Commander tears down the wall of deceit and duplicity secularism has built around American culture the past several decades and offers simple, proven truths that can bring back American harmony, purpose and unity.

To illustrate how pointed Robertson is when it comes to reaching others about Christ, he recalls in his book sharing the plan of salvation with Donald Trump for 15 minutes during the 2016 campaign, and reminds the president in its pages of his offer to baptize him.

“Mr. Trump, my offer to baptize you into Christ still stands.  You ready to move on it?”

Non-believers reading the book need to know that Robertson isn’t judging people, but rather warning how alluring temptation can be, how evil sneaks up on the unaware and ruins lives – like it almost torpedoed his marriage when his wife Miss Kay left with their three boys before his conversion because of his “drinking and whoring.”

Christians reading the book need to sit up straight because Robertson bluntly lays most of the blame for society rejecting God at churchgoers feet.

“The church has forgotten its purpose, forgotten we’re supposed to be carrying the truth of the Almighty out to the world,” he writes in Chapter 9 where he argues against church participation being kept separate from our public lives.

“We’ve withdrawn from government, allowed our faith to be squeezed out of public schools, let our voices be silenced in the workplace. See? Under pressure of the advancing secular age, we retreated to our church buildings as society around us descended into godless chaos.”

Phil Robertson may look and sound like an Old Testament prophet, but as someone who has never watched a single episode of Duck Dynasty or ever even been duck hunting, to me he’s a fearless and devout Christian who loves God, his family and his country.

He has witnessed and preached in prisons, sporting goods stores, to political candidates and Duck Dynasty fans and baptized hundreds of people calling on him at home.

God bless Phil Robertson and his courage in standing up for God and traditional American values!
