Watching the history-challenged millennials going mano to metal with the Confederate statue in Durham, North Carolina\u00a0recently was like watching open auditions for MTV\u2019s old show, Jackass<\/i>.\u00a0 <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Remarkably, these clueless posers arrogantly posed for videos and selfies after joyously whooping\u00a0up on an inanimate hunk of metal. The Durham County Sheriff\u2019s Department was able to make arrests based on those pictures so thank you for your cooperation.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

You ask me, I thought the generic Johnny Rebb statue showed remarkable restraint as the mob of millennials toppled it, before viciously kicking, cursing and spitting on it. <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

What\u2019s that, you say an inanimate statue can\u2019t exhibit restraint because it\u2019s inanimate? Tell that to the brainiacs who think that raining punches and kicks on a hunk of defenseless metal strikes a mighty blow against racism and is a shout out for tolerance.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

The left is always about symbolism over substance. As Laura Ingraham noted in a story on Fox News<\/strong><\/a><\/span>, Confederate statues have become a political symbol that the left believes represents America\u2019s racist past and as a result, they have to go.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cThis is not about racial healing or racial unity when you see property being destroyed,\u201d Ingraham said on Fox and Friends<\/i><\/a><\/span>.<\/strong>\u201cThat\u2019s not what it\u2019s about. It\u2019s about the eradication of history…\u201d<\/strong><\/h5>\n

These social justice wimps and wusses seem to think if they physically remove the historical reminders of our past, warts and all, that they have *Alt*Ctrl*Deleted America’s history.\u00a0 The irony that those railing against white privilege are “whitewashing” it seems lost on these history-challenged vigilantes. <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Instead of adopting the conventional thinking that those who don\u2019t know history are doomed to repeat it, these paragons of uncivil virtue act as if destroying or defacing historical symbols deemed offensive will make the country lily white pure (sorry, bad choice of words) – because they wish it.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

“Destroying statues and religious symbols is the calling card of terrorist thugs like Al Qaeda and ISIS – not healthy democratic dissent.”<\/strong><\/h5>\n

There are 620,000 Americans that fought and died in the Civil War, and if the left topples every statue they deem offensive from sea to shining sea, that does nothing to change that tragedy.\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Destroying statues and religious symbols is the calling card of terrorist thugs like Al Qaeda and ISIS \u2013 not healthy democratic dissent. What\u2019s next for America\u2019s Taliban wannabes<\/a><\/strong><\/span>? Books? Museums and memorials? Mount Vernon and Monticello?<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

The Durham mob may believe they struck a blow against bigotry and racial equality by toppling a hunk of metal honoring those who fought for the Confederacy, but don\u2019t be fooled \u2013 the real lunkheads are those dissing civility and the rule of law<\/a><\/strong><\/span> while cloaking themselves in ignorance and self-righteousness.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n
